Introduction
Dr. Robert Sherman has been in private practice as a
psychotherapist and clinical supervisor for over 25 years. He has developed
brief down to earth therapy models that help clients and families deal with
their issues effectively. He has described these models in many of the books and
professional journal articles that he published.
Sherman is a distinguished clinician, university educator,
author, supervisor, and consultant in the field of mental health and couples and
family therapy. He has trained and supervised thousands of students and
clinicians in psychology, psychotherapy, and marriage and family therapy in many
universities and postgraduate training institutes nationally, but primarily at
Queens College in New York, where he directed the graduate training programs in
marriage and family therapy and community mental health counseling.
In addition to his license as a psychologist, Sherman is also
professionally certified as a marriage and family therapist and supervisor by
the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists and the National
Academy For Certified Family Therapists, and as a psychoanalyst by the National
Accreditation Association For Psychoanalysis.
Sherman has authored and co-authored six books, chapters in
books, and scores of journal articles. His most popular book is entitled
Handbook of Structured Techniques in Marriage and Family Therapy, which has been
translated into several languages.
